How it Works

Setup Using the Companion App

Use the companion app to connect Bilal to your Wi-Fi network, select your city, and choose your preferred prayer time calculation method.

• For your privacy, Bilal will only use the coordinates of the nearest city instead of your exact location.
• After this initial setup, if you unplug the speaker and plug it back in, it will remember your settings.

Bilal Calculates Prayer Times

Bilal will connect to the internet, get the current time, and then calculate the prayer times for your city.

• Even if Bilal later loses access to the internet, the speaker will continue to calculate the prayer times in offline mode.

Bilal Reminds You to Pray

When the prayer time starts, Bilal will play a beautiful recording of the call to prayer.

• Bilal indicates how much time is left through gentle light changes - orange when there's less than 30 minutes, and red when there's less than 10 minutes remaining.
• You can dismiss the current or upcoming athan by pressing down on the speaker.
• You can make changes to the volume and other settings using the companion app.
• In between prayers, you can play the morning and evening supplications.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes! The Bilal Speaker comes with a 1-year warranty.

Is the speaker battery powered?

No, Bilal must be plugged into a power outlet at all times. We believe this will allow Bilal to most consistently remind you to pray without ever having to worry about replacing batteries.

Does it work without my phone?

Yes! Bilal is a standalone device that calculates prayer times and plays audio independently. Your phone is only needed if you want to adjust Bilal's settings.
